Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The Finance Business Partners (FBP) provide dedicated finance business partnering services to all groups, divisions and branches across the Agency. The FBP teams work closely with Groups to analyse the financial data and develop insights to support informed decision-making. The team acts as a connection between the business and the broader Chief Financial Officer Division. They are responsible for preparing, analysing, and presenting manage reporting on the financial position of Agency and its various Groups, Divisions, and Branches. This work supports business-as-usual (BAU) activities, new policy proposals (NPP), Questions on Notice (QoNs) and preparation for Senate Estimates hearings.
The FBPs play a key role in building, monitoring and analysing budgets and forecasts, supporting business areas with their financial stewardship and decision making. FBPs also provide support and analysis in the preparation of Resources Committee submissions if additional resources are required.

The position is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership and assigned Contractors working within the work area.
Responsibilities may include:
* Partnering with other teams both within and external to the branch to provide technical and general accounting and finance advice.
* Influencing and developing financial strategies, policies, priorities, and operational practices.
* Overseeing and preparing a range of written material including various briefs, reports, discussion papers, and providing significant input to the Agency Financial Strategic Plan.
* Managing highly complex or sensitive finance functions, projects, and work programs, identifying, and seeking clarity on emerging problems and risks.
* Providing a strategic and operational level of financial, technical and policy expertise and advice across one or more of the five core functions.
* Representing the FBP function in the context of highly complex or sensitive issues or contentious information with a range of audiences of internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintaining sound knowledge and understanding of the core financial functions to provide high level advice to management, Strategic Leadership Team, and the Board.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record successfully managing Finance teams from within a large multi-dimensional corporate or government organisation.
What we're looking for in our ideal candidate:
* Experience leading a Finance Business Partnering team
* Accounting knowledge and CA or CPA qualifications
* Executive level verbal and written communication skills
* Strategic thinking
* Well-developed stakeholder management and negotiation skills
* Highly developed leadership skills
* Ability to navigate through uncertainty and conflict
* Ability to plan and prioritise team deliverables
* Experience in navigating Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS), preferably SAP and SAP BW/BI.
Mandatory Qualifications
This position is within the professional job stream, and the officer must possess relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA); together with extensive direct finance experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong VIC, Richmond VIC, Brisbane QLD, Surry Hills NSW or Deakin ACT, flexible working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
