About the RoleWe're seeking a strategic and driven leader to join our WA Asset Projects Studies Group as Lead Project Studies for the Mines Studies Portfolio.
Working in a proactive and supportive team, you will promote business excellence using your broad range of skills in problem solving, technical knowledge, stakeholder engagement and value optimisation.Reporting to the Manager Project Studies for the Mines Studies Portfolio, you will have the prospect to lead the development of projects through Identification, Selection and Definition investment phases.
You will play a significant role in delivering business value through the development of superior safety, scope, cost, schedule, and quality outcomes.In the immediate term you will be responsible for leading the early-phase development of a mining project, ensuring alignment with business strategy, stakeholder expectations, and commercial viability.
You\'ll work cross-functionally with technical teams, commercial analysts, and external partners to deliver a robust investment case that supports value creation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning and execution of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for a commercial mining project.Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Ensure project studies are commercially sound, technically feasible, and aligned with strategic business objectives.Oversee risk identification and mitigation strategies across technical, environmental, and financial domains.Prepare and present high-quality documentation and recommendations to the senior leadership team.Champion a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.About YouExperienced project leader with a strong track record of delivering high-value outcomes in dynamic environments.Skilled in stakeholder engagement, influencing, and building trusted relationships across all levels.Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, diverse teams.Strong business acumen with deep understanding of mining industry drivers and strategic value creation.Effective communicator and problem solver, able to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities.Strategic thinker with analytical, divergent, and convergent thinking skills.Experienced in conceptual and pre-feasibility studies, developing compelling, strategically aligned investment cases.Collaborative mindset with excellent presentation and communication skills.Requirement: degree in engineering, science, business, or finance, with substantial project management experience.Postgraduate studies in business/finance or project management are recommended.Applications close 29th SepAbout Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
