About the Role
This position involves designing menus that balance creativity, quality, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring high-quality ingredients are used. You will be responsible for coordinating food purchases to guarantee a steady supply of fresh produce and monitoring dish quality from preparation to plating.
You will also work closely with management, dietitians, kitchen staff, and service staff to resolve any food preparation issues and maintain operational efficiency. Additionally, you will teach proper cooking methods and provide guidance to ensure consistency and quality in dishes prepared.
Your role will involve cooking meals according to menu requirements, ensuring excellent taste and presentation. You will also uphold strict hygiene and food safety standards to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
You will assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring kitchen staff to develop a capable team. Moreover, you will oversee the freezing and preservation of ingredients to minimize waste and prolong freshness. Finally, you will manage kitchen inventory and ensure timely stock rotation to reduce spoilage.
Requirements
* A minimum of three years of professional experience as a chef in Australia.
* Possession of Certificates III and IV in Commercial Cookery and a Diploma of Hospitality Management.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency is preferred.
