About the Role
The Area Leader is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of environmental field operations across a designated region. This is a hands‐on leadership role accountable for:
* Executing work programs
* Leading field teams and supervisors
* Ensuring safety, quality and compliance
* Driving operational performance and efficiency
The role oversees multiple crews and plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
This Area Leader role is for our Gold Coast region.
What You Will Do
Operational Delivery & Planning
* Plan and execute weekly and monthly work programs aligned with project schedules
* Coordinate labour, equipment and logistics across multiple sites
* Ensure work is delivered on time, within scope and to required quality standards
* Monitor progress and proactively resolve delivery issues
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor and develop Field Supervisors and crew members
* Build capable, high‐performing teams through coaching and feedback
* Conduct performance reviews, training and development conversations
* Foster a positive, inclusive and safety‐focused team culture
Resource & Workforce Management
* Manage rostering, scheduling and workforce allocation across crews
* Maintain high utilisation and effective deployment of field teams
* Ensure tools, vehicles and equipment are available, maintained and compliant
* Support recruitment, onboarding and workforce capability uplift
Safety, Compliance & Quality
* Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company procedures
* Conduct audits, inspections and field observations
* Ensure all work aligns with environmental, quality and regulatory requirements
* Maintain accurate field documentation and reporting
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
* Maintain strong relationships with Project Managers and internal teams
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders as required to support project delivery
* Provide updates on progress, risks and operational performance
What Success Looks Like (6–12 months)
* Work programs are delivered consistently on time and within budget
* Field teams operate safely with strong compliance and low incident rates
* Supervisors are capable, autonomous and performing at a high level
* Resources are effectively planned with minimal downtime
* Strong collaboration exists with Project Managers and support teams
What We're Looking For
* 5+ years' experience in ecological restoration, land management or environmental field operations
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams or supervisors
* Strong understanding of ecological restoration practices and field operations
* Experience planning and coordinating multi‐site work programs
* Solid knowledge of WHS, environmental and compliance requirements
* Experience with GIS or digital field data collection tools
* Qualifications in ecology, environmental science or land management
* Certifications such as chainsaw, chemical handling, or First Aid
* Experience in fire ecology, pest management or ecological monitoring

Essential Certifications (or Willingness to Obtain)
* Police Check
* ChemCert or ACDC certification
* First Aid/CPR certification
* Chainsaw ticket
* Medical Examination prior to commencement
* Competent with using computer systems and apps.
