Bis is recruiting a Senior Safety and Sustainability Advisor for a 10 to 12-month fixed-term maternity leave cover based at our Tomago Office in NSW, with travel required.
Reporting to the General Manager - Maintenance Execution, this role provides advice and support on Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems to our Underground hire equipment and UGM Divisions.
The Advisor will guide operations at Bis's sites and UGM locations to achieve safety and environmental goals without compromising employee safety or equipment integrity. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with safety and sustainability standards and fostering a Zero Harm culture.

1. Providing guidance on statutory safety requirements and best practices
2. Promoting a positive safety culture and Zero Harm commitment
3. Coaching personnel on safety practices and incident management
4. Facilitating incident investigations and drafting notifications
5. Developing safety management plans in compliance with regulations
6. Supporting the business in safety and health goal achievement
7. Developing return-to-work plans with the Workers Compensation team
8. Building strong stakeholder relationships
The successful candidate will have:
o A Diploma or Bachelor in Workplace Health and Safety
o Experience as a Return-to-Work Coordinator and in Workers Compensation management
o Training and experience with ICAM investigations
o Strong leadership, coaching, and influencing skills
o Initiative and problem-solving abilities
o Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple priorities
o Effective communication skills
o Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
