The Opportunity
We're seeking a highly skilled Product Strategy Manager to join a large, complex organisation with a national and international presence. This is a senior leadership role with a clear mandate: bring strategic and commercial discipline to a technically strong but operationally complex product portfolio. It's an environment with significant opportunity for impact – streamlining structures, embedding stage-gate discipline, and building a high-performing team that can take the portfolio forward.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Head of Product & Portfolio, you'll be accountable for:
* Portfolio leadership – oversee a $150M+ multi-brand portfolio, ensuring range strategy is aligned with business objectives, customer demand, and profitability targets.
* Commercial rigour – embed P&L accountability within your team, optimise pricing, and improve margin performance.
* Lifecycle management – implement clear stage-gate and exit processes, reduce obsolete stock, and simplify a historically complex portfolio.
* Innovation & NPD – manage a pipeline of new product development, from concept through to launch, leveraging insights and data analytics to drive decision making.
* Team leadership – lead, coach and develop a team of Product Managers and specialists, lifting their strategic and commercial capability while creating succession depth.
* Cross-functional collaboration – partner with sales, supply chain, procurement, and marketing to deliver on growth strategies and ensure market alignment.
* Stakeholder influence – manage key supplier relationships, navigate competing internal priorities, and foster collaboration across business units.
About you
You're a senior product or portfolio leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring:
* 10+ years' experience in wholesale distribution, industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or other complex, multi-brand portfolios.
* Demonstrated success in portfolio optimisation, lifecycle management, and category growth.
* Strong financial acumen, with a track record of managing P&Ls, setting pricing strategies, and delivering on commercial outcomes.
* A history of leading and developing teams – coaching technically strong managers into commercially astute leaders.
* The ability to simplify complexity, drive process discipline, and influence across multiple stakeholders.
* Resilience, pragmatism, and emotional maturity – capable of leading change in a challenging but rewarding environment.
What's on offer
* Leadership of a high-value, strategically important portfolio with significant visibility.
* The chance to fix real problems – simplify processes, improve inventory discipline, and sharpen commercial outcomes.
* An opportunity to leave a clear legacy by embedding stage-gate discipline, improving lifecycle management, and building a stronger, future-ready team.
* A role that offers both immediate impact and long-term growth, in a business investing in innovation and continuous improvement.
