About the role We’re looking for a proactive and organised Theatre Bookings Officer to join our collaborative team at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of theatre coordination — ensuring smooth scheduling, efficient patient flow, and a seamless experience for patients and staff alike. Reporting directly to the Patient Access Team Leader – Surgery and Oral Medicine, y ou'll work closely with the Perioperative Coordinator, Nurse Unit Manager, and Surgery Leadership Team to manage complex scheduling and prioritisation to ensure smooth patient flow, optimal theatre utilisation, and a streamlined surgical experience for all. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where your attention to detail and ability to problem-solve on the go will directly impact the delivery of timely, high-quality care. What you’ll be doing Keep things moving : Coordinate theatre and anaesthetic bookings to maximise theatre utilisation and reduce wait times. Be the go-to : Liaise across multiple departments to align surgical needs with clinician availability. Problem-solve on the fly : Manage last-minute changes, cancellations or urgent cases with confidence and care. Support patient journeys : Ensure patient records are up to date and they’re scheduled efficiently and appropriately. Think ahead : Contribute to future planning, forecasts and resource management for continuous improvement.
