To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a Social Connections Officer to support older people within the Golden Plains Shire to age well, remain connected and meaningfully participate in their community.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
* Support the delivery of a range of innovative programs, activities and events that build capacity and social connection.
* Facilitate programs, activities and events that encourage active participation and engagement of older adults.
* Actively seek opportunities to improve the experience of older adults, carers and people with disability in events, activities and programs.
* Engage and work with facilitators around capacity building initiatives to create awareness on key ageing issues as they arise, such as Elder Abuse, Dementia and digital literacy.
* Build strong networks with community groups to promote positive ageing opportunities and initiatives around the Shire.
* Undertake the planning, development and delivery of Seniors Festival initiatives in line with DFFH guidelines.
* Maintain a calendar of programs, activities and events that is accessible by the community.
* Build rapport with key stakeholders and attend relevant network meetings to remain aware of current trends and opportunities across the ageing sector.
* Undertake general day to day administrative tasks across program planning, attendance, promotion, mail-outs, venue bookings, transport arrangements, monthly newsletters and reporting.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Certificate IV in Community Services and/or extensive experience within a relevant field.
* Previous experience supporting the delivery a range of innovative programs, activities and events that build capacity and social connection.
* Ability to quickly establish and sustain positive rapport with community members.
* Knowledge and understanding of positive ageing opportunities across the Shire.
* The ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders within the community.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* Enthusiastic, engaging and confident in working with and facilitating to large groups of participants.
* Self-motivated with well-developed organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet competing deadlines.
