Founded in 1952, the Paspaley Pearls Group is a diverse group of companies. Whilst its core business is in pearling, including pearl production, wholesale and retail, it also has extensive involvement and interests in aviation, agriculture, hospitality and commercial property.
Paspaley is seeking an experienced Building & Project Manager to oversee the effective management, maintenance, and ongoing development of the Paspaley-owned Sydney building and other commercial properties. This position combines comprehensive building and facilities management with hands-on project management for a multi-level refurbishment program. The role is based in Sydney with regular coordination and reporting to the Darwin-based Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management – Building Renovation & Fit-out Works
* Oversee and supervise on-site renovation and fit-out projects for each level of the building, delivered in phases.
* Manage day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, on schedule, and within budget.
* Liaise with architects, designers, builders, engineers, and consultants to ensure project requirements are understood and delivered.
* Conduct site meetings, prepare progress reports, and escalate issues when required.
* Support procurement, tendering, contractor selection, and contract administration.
* Ensure compliance with all building codes, construction standards, and WHS requirements during fit-out work.
* Coordinate with the Darwin-based Supervisor to report project progress, risks, and upcoming milestones.
Building & Facilities Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations, building systems and services (HVAC, lifts, fire safety, and security) of the Paspaley-owned Sydney building
* Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
* Coordinate and supervise contractors and service providers for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure the building remains compliant with WHS, essential services, and regulatory standards.
* Manage building-related budgets, quotations, procurement, and expenditure tracking.
* Provide prompt response to tenant needs and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
* Ensure detailed and accurate building records, logs, compliance certificates, and reporting are maintained.
About You
* Demonstrated experience delivering commercial fit out or refurbishment projects
* Strong knowledge of building services, WHS and compliance
* Excellent contractor and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to read technical drawings and manage multiple priorities
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and building/maintenance systems
Desirable
* Qualifications in construction, facilities or engineering
* Previous experience in an owner-occupied commercial property environment.
* Knowledge of NSW building regulations and essential services compliance
