Why You’ll Love This Role
This is not your standard physio role. Working with a fit, active, and motivated population, you’ll have the time and resources to focus on functional rehabilitation—helping Defence members recover from musculoskeletal injuries and return to peak performance.
You’ll have access to a fully equipped gym, dedicated admin time each day, and the support of a multidisciplinary health team including doctors, nurses, psychologists, and rehabilitation consultants.
A Typical Day Might Include
- Treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions – from sports injuries and loading injuries to post-operative rehab and pelvic health.
- Supporting ADF members to get back to training, deployment, or exercise goals.
- Collaborating closely with a diverse healthcare team.
- Working in a structured environment with a focus on quality outcomes (not rushed appointment times).
About Lavarack Health Centre
Based at Lavarack Barracks, Townsville – Australia’s largest Army base – the Health Centre supports approx. 8,000 ADF members. The facility offers primary medical, surgical outpatient, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, pharmacy, and a 24/7 inpatient ward. It’s a unique workplace where you’ll be part of something bigger.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience (within the last 5 years).
- Current, unconditional AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist.
- Ongoing CPD in line with AHPRA guidelines.
- Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009).
- APA membership (preferred).
- Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Defence Baseline Security Clearance.
