Primary objective

The Senior Policy and Project Officer provides high-level strategic advice and support to facilitate contemporary projects, policies

and Agency activities. This role is integral to the execution of strategic initiatives within Digital Transformation and Reform with a

particular focus on resourcing and establishment functions. The role offers leadership and guidance to junior team members and

works in a dynamic environment where new challenges require the application of current processes or adaptation of existing practices.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Enhance resourcing and organisational reform outcomes by providing high level advice and contributing to strategic workforce

planning initiatives.

1. Develop and prepare high-level reports, business cases and recommendations, including the preparation of Senior Executive

and Ministerial correspondence.

3. Manage recruitment and selection processes, including advice on relevant policies and procedures, and improving the ability to

attract and select top-tier talent, ensuring fair, transparent and unbiased evaluation processes.

4. Manage and participate in the development and implementation of divisional projects, including corporate governance matters,

monitoring and reporting.

5. Provide strategic, evidence-based analysis and advice on strategic initiatives, supporting the agency's vision for a technology-

driven police force.

6. Mange the planning, coordination, and execution of research, consultation and development or review of policies for the

portfolio, the agency and key stakeholders.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Experience in recruitment, procurement and contract management for the effective engagement of specialist resources, or

proven ability to quickly acquire.

2. Robust communication, negotiation and influencing skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks and

collaborative partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

3. Proven experience in coordinating governance and quality assurance processes, with a collaborative approach to required

outcomes.

1. Flexibility in planning and managing workloads against changing and competing demands, including the ability to operate

independently with minimal supervision and provide leadership within a team environment.

5. Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to support the development and

implementation of projects, policies and Agency wide initiatives.

6. Demonstrated strategic thinking ability and capacity to develop practical, innovative solutions to solving a range of management

and corporate support challenges.

Desirable

1. Qualifications relevant to the position and/or public policy writing and/or project management short course.
