Bookkeeper – talent & podcast revenue

Sydney
Leverage Agency
Accountant
Posted: 13 February
Offer description

Leverage Agency is a growing media business operating across multiple entities, including Leverage, DM Podcast & The Betotoa Advocate, with revenue from social content, podcasts, merch, subscriptions, sponsorships, and more. We work with around 40+ podcasts and 10+ talent, and we run a relaxed but driven environment where we like to have fun and work hard when it counts.

The role

We're looking for a junior–mid level bookkeeper to take ownership of day‐to‐day accounts across four entities (three trading, one payroll) and help us keep our numbers tight as we grow. You'll manage Xero, support talent and podcaster payments, and help produce clear, reliable reporting on our different income streams.

This is a part‐time role starting at roughly two days per week (hours flexible across the week), with scope to grow over time. The role is hybrid: mostly remote is fine, but you'll need to come into our Sydney office periodically (or more often if you prefer working on‐site).

Key responsibilities

* Maintain up‐to‐date Xero files across four entities, including daily bank reconciliations and accurate coding of 200–300 transactions per month.
* Create and send 40–50 sales invoices per month, track receivables and chase overdue debtors where required.
* Process 60–100 supplier bills/expenses per month and manage accounts payable to agreed terms.
* Run payroll for around 8 employees through the payroll entity, including superannuation and STP compliance.
* Assist with month‐end tasks (cut‐off, reconciliations, basic P&L views) in coordination with our external accountants.

Talent and podcaster payments

* Prepare and process payments for approximately 50 podcasters/talent, including 40 on regular monthly cycles and others on a per‐payment basis (3–5 times per month).
* Use and refine existing Monday.com workflows to calculate and track what is owed from different deals (e.g. revenue share, campaign payments, segments).
* Generate income and payment reports:
* Monthly income reports for ~40 podcasts.
* Campaign‐based reporting for ~10 talent, aligned to deal terms.

Income tracking, analysis and reporting

* Track and reconcile revenue across multiple income streams including social, podcast ads, podcast segments, merchandise, subscriptions, sponsorships, articles and studio rent.
* Reconcile income from platforms and tools such as Stripe, Patreon, AdSense, Shopify and others back into Xero.
* Produce clear, regular reports (e.g. monthly dashboards) by show, by talent and/or by revenue stream so the leadership team can see what's working.
* Assist with ad‐hoc analysis across different income streams (e.g. which shows or channels are growing fastest, which types of deals are most profitable).

Collaboration & compliance support

* Report directly to the co‐founder/CFO and work closely with production, sales and talent teams when needed.
* Liaise with external accountants and, at times, talent managers or other partners to clarify invoicing, payments and reporting.
* Handle operational compliance items such as superannuation, STP and workers compensation processes, with BAS/IAS and higher‐level tax work handled by our accountants.

About you

* 2–3 years' bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small business environment using Xero.
* Comfortable managing multiple entities and a steady volume of transactions, invoices and bills.
* Strong skills in Excel/Google Sheets and confident working with tools like Monday.com, Slack, Stripe and other platforms.
* Understanding of media, podcasting or talent‐based businesses is highly desirable, but not essential.
* Experience with talent/royalty/commission‐style payments and reconciling platform revenue (Patreon, Shopify, Stripe, AdSense, podcast networks) is a plus.
* Detail‐oriented and methodical, but also proactive and comfortable improving systems and processes rather than just following them.
* Open to experimenting with AI or other tools to make reconciliations and reporting more efficient (nice‐to‐have, not a dealbreaker).

Pay, hours and location

* Part‐time, starting at approximately 2 days per week, with flexibility to spread hours across the week and potential to increase days over time.
* Hybrid role: you can work mostly remotely but should be able to attend our Sydney office when needed (or more frequently if you prefer).
* Indicative pay range: around 35–45 AUD per hour depending on experience.
