Role Overview:

The GEA Herd Management Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting and advancing GEA's Automated Milking Systems (AMS) and advanced Conventional Milking Solutions (CMS) across Australia.

This is a high-impact role with significant freedom to shape, grow, and develop the Herd Management Service (HMS) offering. You will be at the forefront of modern dairy technology, working directly with farmers, dealers, and industry specialists to deliver measurable improvements in labor efficiency, herd performance and farm profitability.

With strong support from GEA's global network, this role provides the opportunity to influence industry practice, build partnerships, and create a professional footprint that will expand in scope and responsibility over time.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Product & Solution Champion

* Act as the lead advocate for GEA herd management platforms, including:

* DairyNet

* CowScout
* CattleEye
* Other relevant tools
* Promote best practice principles in AMS operations, including:

* Cow flow and traffic

* Milking efficiency and milk quality
* Feeding and grazing strategies
* Reproduction management
* Animal health and breeding

2. End User Support:

* Provide support via GEA dealers or directly to clients:

* New projects:

o Transition planning and herd support
o User onboarding and training
o Monitoring, follow-up, and optimisation
o Ownership and continuous improvement of the GEA Herd Management System (HMS) process
o Existing projects:

o Act as Q&A partner for dealers and farmers

o Deliver troubleshooting and optimisation services

3. Reporting & Communication:

* Report project outcomes and success stories to management and stakeholders
* Act as the key connection between GEA's international organisation and the local Australian team
* Advocate and expand the HMS footprint within and beyond GEA

Additional Responsibilities:

* Build strong partnerships with industry stakeholders (veterinarians, nutritionists, farm consultants, advisors).
* Develop creative and innovative customer-focused solutions.
* Adapt and develop documentation and training materials for the Australian market.
* Provide market feedback to inform product and service development.
* Support sales and marketing through:

* Participation in new projects

* Customer testimonials and case studies
* Attendance at field days, open days, and industry conferences

Skills & Attributes:

* Strong affinity for dairy farming and herd management.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
* Excellent trainer, communicator, and listener with strong interpersonal skills.
* Independent, disciplined, and analytical, with strong problem-solving ability.
* Team-oriented, able to foster collaboration across long distances.
* Flexible and willing to travel frequently to farms across Australia.
* Open-minded, approachable, and effective in engaging with diverse dairy professionals.
* Enthusiastic and multicultural communicator, skilled in using Microsoft Teams.
* Able to maintain a clear overview while paying close attention to detail.
* Confident in delivering presentations to larger stakeholder groups.
* Fluent in English.

Education & Experience:

* Practical experience in dairy farming; tertiary qualification in dairying preferred.
* Hands-on experience with herd management software.
* Understanding of on-farm strategies in breeding, nutrition, reproduction, animal health, and milk quality.
* Previous advisory experience in nutrition, genetic improvement, or animal health highly regarded.
