As a result of our continued success we currently have permanent opportunities for trade qualified Spray Painters to join our advanced manufacturing site located in Port Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager you will be responsible for sealant application, product preparation and painting of various parts and products within the paint shop.
Position
This is a full-time permanent role at Boeing Aerostructures Australia based in Port Melbourne. The successful candidate will be part of the paint shop team and contribute to the production of aerospace components.
Position Responsibilities
- Understanding the requirements of quality instructions and detailed drawings
- Compliance with BAA and customer quality assurance standards and requirements
- Comply with surface finish process specifications and work order specifications
- Operate and monitor spray booths and oven specifications
- Preparation and painting of final assembled and detailed parts
- Use of both hand and pneumatic paint process tools
- Complete preparation processes for painting of composite products
- Undertake mixing processes and paint application in a production environment
- Maintain housekeeping and compliance requirements
- Participate in Lean programs by supporting innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in health and safety culture and uphold safety and environmental standards
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
- Australian recognised Trade qualification as a Spray Painter is essential
- Completion of a trade Apprenticeship backed with relevant experience working as a Spray Painter
- Experience in spray painting onto various substrate materials in a high-quality environment
- Flexibility to work across day, afternoon and night shift
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions as per specifications
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic use of computer systems
- Able to exercise independent judgment
- Capable of working under indirect supervision
- General knowledge of safety procedures and strong advocate of EH&S;
- Full unrestricted working rights in Australia
Additional Information
- This is an EBA position and classified as an Aerospace Tradesperson 1
- The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks and a 3-month probationary period
