Summary
ABC Tropical North is seeking a rural specialist to produce engaging content for local radio, national programs such as 7PM nightly news and 7.30, and our digital and video platforms.
The role involves presenting programs such as the daily Rural Report, sourcing stories that matter to farmers and regional communities, and ensuring they reach both local and national audiences.
Responsibilities
Gather, produce and present rural, mining and primary industry content for radio, digital, video and social media platforms.
Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop new content ideas.
Engage with local communities to find and tell stories that resonate with audiences.
Collaborate with ABC teams to share content nationally.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a working journalist, ideally with live presentation and broadcast skills.
Strong understanding of rural and regional issues and a commitment to diversity in storytelling.
Self-starter; able to work independently within a small team based in remote locations.
Excellent communication skills and confidence building relationships and nurturing a network of contacts.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel and meet people face-to-face.
