Primary objective
The Police Business Systems Owner is responsible for maximising business value and mitigating key risks across processes and
business systems. This role champions the NT Police Force (NTPF)'s business processes, supports critical systems and applications,
acting in the agency's best interests to ensure long-term success.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage interactions with other government bodies and law enforcement agencies, and oversee systems such as
SerPro, IJIS, MDEA, Axon Justice and AXON Evidence.
2. Oversee and provide expert advice on the development and maintenance of the department's business systems.
1. Drive the adoption, usage, and improvement of relevant applications that deliver sustained value to the NTPF. This includes
defining the expected business processes and outcomes to support the relevant application.
4. Work with product owners to review functional specifications proposed by development teams, ensuring alignment with
business processes, policy, and legislative requirements.
5. Represent the application in business strategy discussions, participate in governance activities and provide leadership within
application user groups.
6. Develop and maintain comprehensive application documentation, including user guides and training content.
7. Coordinate the communication of application-related business changes to users.
8. Provide support to projects related to business systems, databases, and IT infrastructure.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels,
including relationship building skills and the ability to provide advice at a strategic and senior executive level.
2. Extensive experience in the Business System Development Lifecycle, management of business systems and associated mapping
services, with the ability to lead the development and maintenance of both existing and new systems.
3. High level technical and systems thinking ability, with proficiency in using computerised systems and digital platforms, and
ability to manage contractual arrangements with service providers.
4. Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and research skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into concise and
meaningful forms.
1. Extensive knowledge of computerised information systems including trends regarding digital platforms, content management
systems, artificial intelligence and web security.
6. Proven ability to manage competing demands, deliver outcomes within set timeframes, and independently prioritise tasks
effectively.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in information technology or related field.
2. Experience with business systems used by the NTPF (such as SerPro, MDEA, IJIS, AXON Evidence and Axon Justice).
