Our centres are safe and supportive environments creating an ideal environment for growth, where participants feel believed in, valued, listened to, and respected.About the RoleWe are looking for a compassionate and committed Youth Support Worker to join our team at the Bundaberg Youth Refuge.In this vital role, you will help provide a safe, clean, and supportive environment for young people in a 24-hour accommodation setting.This is a permanent part-time position, working 23.25 hours per week, based in Bundaberg, QLD, and reporting to the Refuge Manager.Salary and conditions are in line with the SCHADS Crisis Award Level 1.How you will make an impact:As a Youth Support Worker, you will:Build trusting, respectful, and confidential relationships with clients.Design, deliver, and evaluate life skills and personal development programs tailored to individual needs.Offer information and referral support to a range of community and government services.Respond to and escalate critical incidents to the Team Leader as necessary.Support clients through a case management approach—helping them implement, monitor, and review their support plans.Work collaboratively within the service's policies and procedures.Participate in sleepover shifts as part of a roster (applicable to both part-time and full-time staff).What you will bring:A qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services, or a related field.Experience supporting young people experiencing homelessness and/or crisis using a Case Management Framework.Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and faiths.Insight into the challenges associated with homelessness, substance use, mental health, and disability.Confidence managing unpredictable behaviours and crisis situations, including those involving violence or substance abuse.A strong sense of teamwork as well as the ability to work independently.Skills in crisis assessment and intervention, including conflict resolution techniques.Current QLD Driver's LicenceValid Working with Children Check (Blue Card)First Aid Certificate preferredWhat we offerThe Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including:Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness PassportOngoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency.Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts.How to applyIf you’re passionate about making a difference and ready to join a team dedicated to creating positive change, please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your alignment with the requirements of the role.
