Your New Role
Based in Hobart or Launceston, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive role responsible for the financial and commercial stewardship of Top Centre Laundry Pty Ltd and its related entities. The role ensures the organisation operates with strong financial discipline, sound governance, and effective systems that support decision‑making, accountability, and operational reliability.
This position requires a minimum of 6‑8 years of CFO experience in a senior executive capacity.
Working in close partnership with the CEO, the CFO brings integrated commercial, financial, and risk insight to both strategic and operational decisions. The role supports executive decision‑making by ensuring the organisation's financial position, obligations, and exposures are clearly understood and appropriately managed. The role communicates key financial and non‑financial information across the business, works closely with other senior managers and will require reporting to committees and the CEO as necessary.
With an emphasis on long‑term resilience and sustainability, the CFO is accountable for maintaining the financial strength of the business while ensuring risks are identified early and managed effectively. The CFO is accountable for maintaining the integrity of the organisation's financial frameworks and control environment, ensuring the business is well‑structured, resilient, and capable of operating sustainably through change, complexity, and future evolution.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide executive oversight of the organisation's financial management, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and discipline across all entities.
* Ensure financial controls, policies, and processes are appropriate, consistently applied, and fit for purpose.
* Oversee statutory, taxation, and regulatory obligations to ensure requirements are met accurately, on time, and with appropriate governance.
Reporting
* Ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial and non‑financial information to support executive oversight and decision‑making.
* Maintain reporting frameworks that provide clear visibility of performance, risk, and emerging trends.
* Ensure reporting is clear, trusted, and designed to support executive decision‑making and accountability.
Cashflow, Treasury & Capital Management
* Maintain oversight of cashflow, liquidity, and capital position to support financial stability and continuity of operations.
* Manage relationships with financial institutions and funding partners and ensure financing arrangements are well governed and appropriate to the organisation's risk profile.
* Support disciplined capital allocation through robust analysis, prioritisation, and post‑investment review.
Risk, Governance, Legal & Insurance Oversight
* Maintain an effective governance and control environment that supports accountability, compliance, and risk management.
* Oversee the identification, assessment, and management of financial, operational, and compliance risks.
* Ensure legal, contractual, and insurance arrangements are well governed, maintained, and aligned with the organisation's operating model and obligations, utilising external advisors where required.
Commercial & Operational Support
* Provide commercial insight and challenge to support management, margin performance, and contractual decision‑making.
* Partner with operational leaders to improve efficiency, consistency, and performance through informed financial and commercial input.
* Support major commercial decisions, tenders, and negotiations with appropriate analysis and risk consideration.
Systems, Data & Business Infrastructure
* Hold executive accountability for the integrity and effectiveness of the organisation's core business systems and data.
* Ensure systems are appropriately governed, secure, reliable, and capable of supporting operational and executive decision‑making.
* Oversee system change, integration, and improvement to support efficiency, consistency, and resilience across the business.
Team Leadership & Capability
* Lead and develop the finance function to operate with professionalism, accountability, and continuity.
* Ensure roles, responsibilities, and knowledge are clearly defined and documented to reduce key‑person risk.
* Build capability, discipline, and confidence within the team to ensure continuity and resilience of the finance function.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Senior executive finance leadership experience in a complex, operational or multi‑site business.
* Demonstrated experience overseeing finance, systems, risk, and compliance functions.
* Strong commercial judgement and ability to operate as a trusted executive advisor.
* Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial sector environments is essential for this role.
* Experience in capital‑intensive, industrial, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
* Experience working in owner‑managed or privately held businesses.
* Formal training in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma).
* Previous experience with leading systems or ERP environments.
Other Requirements
* Unrestricted driver's licence.
* Must be available to travel between sites to provide direct, hands‑on support regularly.
* Confidence working with stakeholders across all levels, including executives, site managers, frontline teams and key suppliers.
