Reporting to the Director Clinical Operations, the Preadmissions Manager oversees the day-to-day coordination of the Preadmissions team and function having responsibility for the clinical assessment of patients’ suitability for admission, management of theatre lists, bed utilisation and patient movement along the Continuum of Care ensuring optimal utilisation of hospital resources. The role is both operational and strategic in nature focused on delivering improved efficiency, system evolution, streamlining processes, and enhancing the quality and timeliness of the Preadmissions service.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity predominantly based at Burnside Hospital’s Toorak Gardens site.

About you

You will be a clinically proficient and experienced nursing leader who collaborates with patients, specialists and clinical staff in support of the provision of Burnside Hospital’s purpose - to provide exceptional care, always.

This position requires an individual who has:

* Recent senior nursing experience, ideally within a Preadmissions team and/or setting requiring the clinical assessment of patients’ health status
* Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate people to achieve outcomes
* Exceptional negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrated project management, decision making, and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in relevant systems, particularly Microsoft Office and Patient Information Management System (PiMS)
* Drive, enthusiasm and commitment with a visionary, results-oriented outlook and ability to champion and support teams through change
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with ability to respond to continual changing priorities
* Ability to foster a culture that promotes a safe, harmonious and collaborative work environment to support patient centered care
