WA College Of Agriculture – Denmark is seeking a Head Chef – to join our dedicated and motivated team.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be a team player with strong organisational skills to support the management of the College kitchen. The role involves providing leadership within the kitchen team and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, healthy meals for students, staff, and visitors, including consideration of dietary requirements. Responsibilities include staff rostering, ordering food and equipment within budget, and supporting efficient day-to-day kitchen operations.
With access to on-site farm produce, including an abattoir, the kitchen offers strong opportunities to apply 'paddock to plate' principles and develop menus that make good use of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The environment includes buffet-style service for students and staff across structured meal breaks, with additional residential catering outside school hours. The pace and volume of service can create time pressures, so strong time management and the ability to work well under pressure are highly valued, alongside a collaborative approach that supports a positive and cooperative team culture.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in a commercial cooking environment and ability to organise and prepare meals for approximately 100 people on a daily basis.
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to train and supervise catering staff.
* Demonstrated experience in stock control, including budgeting and purchasing of food and kitchen supplies.
* Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and prioritise tasks to meet conflicting timelines.
* Demonstrated well developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with individuals at all levels.
Eligibility
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* Consent to a screening clearance number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
