We're looking for a Building Designer / Compliance Coordinator to take ownership of both design and early-stage compliance.
This is not a drafting-only role.
It's a role for someone who can think, problem-solve, and take ownership of outcomes.
The RoleThis position is approximately:
* 70% design
* 30% compliance & coordination
You will be responsible for producing plans, managing revisions, and ensuring designs are compliant before they ever reach a certifier or construction stage.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign (Primary)
* Produce full plan sets:
* Floor plans
* Electrical layouts
* Window & door schedules
* Cabinetry layouts
* Elevations
* Manage client revisions and changes
* Ensure all designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with our construction methods
Compliance & Coordination
* Design with compliance in mind from the outset (NCC, livable housing, council expectations)
* Identify and resolve potential compliance issues before client sign-off
* Liaise with:
* Private certifiers
* Town planners
* Engineers
* Respond to compliance queries and work through solutions
* Gradually take ownership of this function from our sales team
Important
This is not a "draw what the client asks for" role.
You will be expected to:
* Think through whether a design will actually comply
* Prevent issues before they happen
* Balance client preferences with practical and compliant outcomes
If you prefer to simply draft and pass work on, this role is not for you.

* Understanding of residential construction and NCC

* Councils

You don't need to know every regulation, but you must be willing to learn quickly and take responsibility for getting it right.
