Overview
BOQ Group is hiring a Financial Accountant within the Group's Financial Control team. The role is responsible for delivering a broad range of core accounting activities, including preparing and processing journals, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, analysing financial information, and providing technical and administrative support to the wider finance function. Accuracy, attention to detail and sound accounting judgement are critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities
* Support the month-end close process; review the Group's monthly profit and loss and balance sheet for completeness and accuracy.
* Prepare and process journals submitted by other departments and respond to queries received through the financial accounting inbox.
* Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and analyse financial information.
* Collaborate with Senior Financial Accountants and Group Finance Managers to deliver monthly, half-year and full-year reporting requirements.
* Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and controls; actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the evaluation/implementation of enhancements that strengthen financial reporting and control across the Group.
About You / Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Business or Commerce with a major in Accounting; professionally qualified, or working towards CPA or CA.
* Solid understanding of accounting principles; experience with banking ledgers and statements; comfortable with computerised accounting systems; strong attention to detail.
* Collaborative team player with ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines with limited supervision; strong organisational skills and proactive approach.
