Job Purpose
To assess damaged properties to see what can be recovered, remove damaged materials, and appropriately dry, clean, or treat materials and contents. Liaise with clients, occupants, and office staff to effectively and efficiently complete the works requested and required. Accurately document all completed and recommended works to aid report writing and other necessary processes.
Tasks
* Responsible for the quality of your own work subject to routine supervision
* Works under routine supervision either individually or in a team
* Exercise discretion within the level of your skills and training
* Understand how and when to float carpet to allow for drying
* Know the difference between building, contents, landlord, and tenant's coverage
Respond To Safety Hazards And Incidents
* Excellent knowledge of site safety and hazardous conditions (e.g. asbestos, mould contamination, sewage, electrical hazards, etc) and how to communicate these to a team
* Assess site safety issues, report if required, and lead actions to mitigate risk
* Respond to emergencies, accidents and incidents appropriately and report all incidents via the incident report form
Conduct basic remediation cleaning
* Drive a van, follow GPS directions
* Load vans, safely lift and move equipment
* Use a moisture meter and thermal imaging camera to determine the extent of water ingress and damage
* Move contents items with care, elevate on foam blocks if required
* Use a portable extraction machine to extract water and/or clean
* Install appropriate drying and air filtration equipment as required
* List contents accurately
* Correctly dilute and use chemicals as required
* Use Encircle and other reporting tools and take accurate photos to document work completed, and be on call for after‐hours emergency work, as per the on‐call roster and when required
Conduct and manage intermediate remediation cleaning
During the course of being a Level 2 Technician, and before they can progress to Level 3, staff must complete and pass the following courses.
* Use truck mount for extraction and carpet cleaning
* Relay and steam clean carpets
* Conduct invasive works such as skirting removal, cutting plasterboard walls and ceilings, removing insulation, removing cabinetry, venting cavities, etc.
* Install basic containment to prevent cross‐contamination of pollutants
* Conduct intermediate level mould remediation jobs across large areas of a property, with contents involved, etc.
* Conduct basic to intermediate level fire remediation jobs across large areas of a property, with contents involved, etc.
* Conduct advanced water remediation jobs across large areas of a property, with contents involved, etc.
* Scope and quote basic and intermediate water, fire and mould damage jobs
* Write detailed reports of work completed on intermediate‐level jobs
* Engage and problem‐solve with difficult clients and other parties
* Liaise clearly and appropriately with assessors, site managers, other trades, site contacts and other parties
* Solve problems on job sites during works
* Coordinate and manage teams to carry out advanced water damage and intermediate mould and fire damage jobs
