The Opportunity:
Carruthers Contracting is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter/Leading Hand to join our team on the Sunshine Coast. We have benefited from sustained growth in project activity locally, and as a result, support resources require expansion to keep in step with construction demand. This is a full-time role with competitive remuneration and a range of perks.
The Role:
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of the company's mobile and fixed plant equipment as well as fault-finding & diagnostics to assist the prevention of break-downs or unexpected down-time of machinery
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, service and repair diesel engines and associated components
Provide maintenance and repair services for a variety of heavy machinery and vehicles (Experience with CAT, Volvo, Komatsu & Hitachi Plant Machinery desired)
Mentor and supervise junior technicians
Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and meets safety and compliance requirements
Maintain accurate records and job documentation
Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop processes and procedures
What we're looking for:
Formal trade qualifications in Diesel Fitting or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Diesel Fitter, with proven expertise in fault diagnosis and repair
Excellent knowledge of diesel engine systems and heavy machinery maintenance
Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Current driver's licence (HR licence also desired)
