Paulett Wines is a family owned and operated wine business, based in Polish Hill River in South Australia's premium wine region, the Clare Valley.
We are looking for a Vineyard Manager who is passionate about sustainable vineyard production and excited to be part the Paulett Wines team. You will oversee, contribute to, and successfully run the viticultural program across our 80 hectares of vineyards located across four sites in the Clare Valley.
Job Requirements
THE ROLE
- Management of all vineyard staff and contractors, assigning them daily tasks and setting ongoing goals
- Creating and implementing spray programs to effectively manage and outperform any seasonal disease pressures
- Implementing floor and undervine management within broader production goals
- Purchasing and inventory maintenance
- Effective record keeping
- Ensuring all machinery is maintained and serviced to a high level
- Liaising with contractors
- Managing vineyard irrigation programming, including repairs and scheduled maintenance
- Creating and managing vineyard budgets in conjunction with Operations Manager
- Managing all yield estimation, sampling and harvest operations in conjunction with our Winemaker.
- Assisting in grounds and property maintenance as required
- Ensuring all work onsite is conducted in a safe and efficient manner
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualification in Viticulture preferred, extensive experience in viticulture essential
- Experienced in all aspects of vineyard management, including pest and disease control
- Experienced in usage of vineyard and farm equipment
- Experienced in managing permanent and seasonal vineyard staff
- Working knowledge and experience in Sustainable Winegrowing Australian (SWA) highly regarded
- Excellent communicator with the ability to deliver clear and concise instructions
- Self-motivated with an ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Skilled in report writing
- You stay abreast of industry trends, evaluating and recommending emerging techniques and technologies and are excited by innovation
- Knowledge of MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheets
- Current drivers licence
- Forklift Licence, Chem Cert and First Aid Certificate an advantage, with training opportunities available for the right applicant
- You will be flexible with overtime of up to 7 days per week as required, according to seasonal and operational requirements
