Our site team is busy and we are looking for a full time carpenter to assist with on site work - including building decks, installing timber play equipment and other tasks, as outlined below.
Responsibilities
* decks, cubbies and other items are made to measure - you will need to follow specifications on the product designs to ensure you create the appropriate item for the space
* maths ability is essential, to ensure minimal waste and correct measuring of timber and other materials
* experience and safe use of tools and machinery e.g. nail gun, drill, driver, mitre saw, band saw, etc. are essential
* for decks there are subfloors which must be plumb and level so the finished product is correct
* roof construction for any decks or cubbies must be assembled safely including safe use of ladders or other elevated surfaces
* fence construction is required
* some timber will be prepared by our timber preparation team, and some timber will need on site preparation e.g. filling cracks and painting with timber stain
* some repairs and maintenance work is part of the role for previously constructed play spaces requiring follow up work
* you will need to work with different materials, e.g. me of our play equipment has a steel subframe with timber cladding, and we integrate some concrete, rope and plastic in some features e.g. plastic slides, metal fireman's poles, concrete benches, etc.
It is essential that you are a great team player and value safety of all staff and visitors on site, following all safety requirements.
Accurate timesheets and attending team meetings is expected.
