Mackellar is one of Australia's largest privately owned mining equipment & service providers in Mining and Civil Earthmoving. We are the mining services contractor for Bravus' Carmichael Mine and together we are creating jobs and opportunities for regional Queensland.
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Safety Coordinator to play an integral role for an exciting project in the Galilee Basin. Being part of a small, well known company, you will get exposure to all aspects of the operation.
About the role
We are looking to expand our Safety team in Central Queensland and would like to employ an Advisor who is focused on promoting high health and safety standards, while also achieving operational outcomes.
These roles are critical to our success on this project and will work in conjunction with supervisors and managers to ensure an excellent safety record is maintained through instilling a strong safety culture and open communication on site. Responsibilities of this role include:
* Provide guidance to contractors on system compliance and document development
* Facilitate and manage safe return to work programs
* Be the primary contact on site for matters relating to Health, and Safety
* Assist with ensuring that safety goals and objectives are understood, widely communicated and monitored and measured
* Raise awareness and priority of safety issues, providing advice, guidance and support to groups and individuals
* Actively promote risk management processes to the workforce such as Take 5, JSAs, formal risk assessments and change management processes
* Ensure all workers are trained and authorised in the appropriate safety and health procedures.
* Actively encourage and support personnel to report near misses, hazards, incidents and accidents
You will need
* Prior experience as a Safety Coordinator in mining/heavy industry
* Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety
* Current G1, G8 & G9 and G2 (or willingness to obtain)
* Current Queensland driver licence.
