About Us
Bungendore Veterinary Surgery is a busy mixed practice just a short drive from Canberra and Queanbeyan. We've been caring for pets, farm animals, and their owners since 1994, building a reputation for excellent patient care and outstanding customer service.
We love what we do and we do it with heart—keeping things fun, supportive, and team-focused. We are like a big family; we work hard, support each other, and enjoy the journey together. Our team has an excellent staff retention rate, with many members having been part of our family for 10+ years. Yet, we're always evolving and welcoming new ideas to keep things fresh. No two days here are the same, and that's exactly how we like it!

About the Role
We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic and motivated Receptionist to be the welcoming face (and friendly voice) of our practice. As the first point of contact, you'll greet wagging tails, calm nervous owners, and ensure everything runs smoothly at the front desk. This varied role is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys connecting with people, and can juggle admin tasks with a smile.
What You'll Do
* Greet clients and manage phone, email, and in-person enquiries with warmth and professionalism.
* Schedule appointments for both small and large animals.
* Handle payments, invoices, statements, and refunds with accuracy.
* Maintain up-to-date patient records, including microchip registrations and vaccination reminders.
* Utilize our veterinary software to manage consent forms, special orders, and client communications.
* Process over-the-counter products and provide helpful information to clients.
* Receive, unpack, and restock orders to keep our clinic looking its best.
* Assist with the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the waiting area and consult rooms.
* Support administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and managing correspondence.
* Manage pathology results, referrals, and radiographs with a keen eye for detail.
* Build strong rapport with clients as a calm, confident presence they can rely on.
What We're Looking For
* Excellent Communication: A genuine \"people person\" with top-tier customer service skills.
* Tech Savvy: Strong computer and administrative abilities.
* The Ultimate Multitasker: Organised, reliable, and able to stay calm under pressure.
* Availability: Happy to work one Saturday morning a month (8:30 am – 1:00 pm). Open to working either 4 days a week (full-time hours) or 3 days (part-time).
* Team Spirit: A positive attitude and a desire to contribute to a supportive culture.
* Experience: Previous veterinary reception experience is a bonus, but not essential—we provide full training for the right person.
* Work Rights: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.
What We Offer
* Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a full-time role spread over just four days each week!
* Modern Facilities: A well-equipped practice including digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house labs.
* Stability & Culture: Join a supportive team where wellbeing matters and staff longevity is a point of pride.
* Growth: Opportunities for professional development and above-award pay.
* Wellbeing: Regular staff initiatives, including webinars and team-building activities.
