Based at the WSLHD Safe Haven, Westmead, you'll join Western Sydney Local Health District—one of the largest and most diverse health services in NSW, committed to better health services for western Sydney and beyond.
You'll be part of the Towards Zero Suicides (TZS) initiative, delivering innovative after-hours alternatives to Emergency Departments through the Suicide Prevention Outreach Team (SPOT) and Safe Haven services.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Mental Health Clinician, you'll work autonomously after hours, providing assertive outreach and clinical leadership to people experiencing suicidal crisis in the community.
* Deliver advanced mental health assessment, safety planning and brief interventions
* Provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care in homes or community settings
* Work alongside Peer Workers as equals to deliver compassionate crisis responses
* Coordinate step-up/step-down care, including referrals and escalation where required
* Collaborate with Emergency Departments, NGOs and community services to ensure continuity of care
* After-hours and weekend work is a key requirement of this role.

Essential Requirements:
* Qualification: Tertiary qualification in relevant Health Professional Practice. For Clinical Psychology - Master Degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or some other recognised clinical area in psychology
* Registration: Australian health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registration or with relevant governing body for Psychology and Occupational Therapy.
Selection Criteria:
* Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology and minimum 3 years of extensive clinical experience working in suicide and mental health interventions with people experiencing acute psychological distress/suicidal crisis. Full AHPRA registration (OT, Clin Psych) or eligibility for membership to AASW.
* Proven recent experience working in a multidisciplinary team as well as understanding and commitment to mental health principles of consumer focused, trauma-informed, recovery oriented and strengths-based practices in community health setting.
* Demonstrated Experience and clinical skills in community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning, experience in provision of collaborative care and strong working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act (200.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate, resolve conflict and motivate change, with ability to develop interagency partnerships and cooperatively develop referral pathways to promote access to a range of services and supports.
* Experience in implementing and evaluating novel services and working with the lived experience workforce.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers, carers, and families with proven experience in working with families who are coping with mental health illness and suicidality.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision with high level organisational, problem solving and decision making skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of computerised information systems and proven ability to utilize research/quality improvement strategies to effect changes in clinical practice.
