The Role: Paediatric Community Registrars

Come and join the Paediatric team at Northern Health, and gain fantastic exposure to Community Paediatric medicine in one of Melbourne's rapidly growing northern growth corridors. Northern Health provides healthcare to a population of over 580,000 people and in the Paediatric Department we care for general paediatric medical and neonatal patients.

Northern Health is committed to medical education & training through the Teaching, Training & Research Precinct - a joint venture with The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

Paediatric Community Registrar positions:

This is an exciting opportunity to have Paediatric Community Registrars to work in an outreach service to the outer Northern suburbs of Melbourne commencing as soon as possible.

Registrars will be assigned to either Craigieburn Community Health or Kilmore District Health Service as their main hospital, with outreach clinics in Nexus Health and Mitchell Shire MCHN to surrounding peripheral sites.

The successful applicants will partake in clinics such as:

* Northern Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Clinics (NASDAC)
* a multidisciplinary service (in conjunction with speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists) for ADOS assessments
* Multi-Disciplinary Assessment clinics (MDAC)
* a multidisciplinary service (in conjunction with speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists) for general developmental assessments
* Immigrant health clinics
* Developmental & Behavioural clinics
* General Paediatric clinics
* There will also be opportunities to visit local Special Developmental Schools

Trainees will be provided both onsite supervision as well as sufficient remote supervision for independent clinical practice. Significant non-clinical time is rostered to allow for education and training, as well weekly opportunity to join the Royal Children's Hospital Community and Child Health (CCCH) Education program.

Applicants should be suitably qualified to perform at the level of a senior paediatric registrar. The applicant should have, at a minimum, more than 24 months of experience in paediatrics. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed Basic Training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and applicants with outpatient paediatric experience. Applicants must be currently registered with AHPRA and hold medical indemnity insurance

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
* More than 24 months of paediatric experience
* Desirable: Enrolled as an Advanced Paediatric training through RACP under either General Paediatric or Community Paediatric SAC, and outpatient paediatric experience
* The Staff Immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process. New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this also includes evidence of having the Flu vaccination on a yearly basis. New employees with contra-indications to vaccinations or who decline vaccination are required to attend a face to face consultation with the Immunisation Nurses for appropriate documentation of their contraindications or declination. This must be completed PRIOR to commencing any work with Northern Health.
