 
        
        Civil Engineering Project Lead
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to lead our project in the development of a green field gold operation. The project involves three open pit mining operations, processing plant, tailings, and supporting infrastructure. Located in the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh, on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.
This role is part-time telework per our policy and may require at least three days per week in person at the office or project, with weekly schedules determined by the individual and supervisor.
Job Summary:
In this position, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil aspects where you will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
Responsibilities:
 1. Plans and conducts independent Civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit for civil works on green field and brown field projects.
 2. Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
 3. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
 4. Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks.
 5. Determines the appropriate use of various civil elements such as earthworks, pavement, rock, concrete, etc. to ensure appropriate material is used based on project requirements.
 6. Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
 7. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
 8. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
 9. Develops conceptual designs for Civil engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
 10. Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
 11. Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
 12. Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Civil aspects of the work.
 13. Conducts or leads special studies of new Civil engineering methods, materials and techniques.
 14. Mentors Civil engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and over 15 years of experience in civil engineering. Additionally, they must be a registered Professional Engineer of Queensland and have supervised teams during study and detail design phases of projects.
