Senior valuations officer

Shape strategic property decisions for the Banyule community.
As Council's Senior Valuations Officer, you'll represent Council and liaise with the Valuer General's appointed valuer on all municipal valuation functions. You'll also be the organisation's go to expert, providing valuation advice to our Strategic Properties and Projects team on high impact property transactions.

About The Role And What You'll Do
In this role you'll enjoy playing a pivotal strategic role, influencing major property decisions and directly shaping Council's asset management and development outcomes. Day to day you'll:

Lead and manage Council's valuation functions:
Represent Council in all valuation matters, liaising with the Valuer General and appointed contractors, and ensuring statutory compliance for supplementary valuations, rates, land tax objections, and asset valuations.

Provide expert strategic advice and guidance:
Actively contribute to property decision-making by offering authoritative valuation advice on property transactions, acquisitions, disposals, and development projects, supporting both the Strategic Properties and Projects team and the wider organisation.

Drive continuous improvement and collaboration:
Improve valuation processes and systems, facilitate knowledge sharing, and collaborate with internal teams (Rates, Assets, GIS, Building) to ensure efficient data management and capability building, while upholding Council values and delivering high-quality customer service.

About You/what You'll Bring
From numbers to neighbourhoods: bring your valuation leadership to Banyule. You have high-level expertise and professional recognition in property valuations, combined with the skills and ability to provide authoritative advice and collaborate across diverse teams.

* Tertiary qualifications in Property or Land Economics including demonstrated extensive experience in all fields of property valuations – residential, retail, commercial and industrial.
* Demonstrated extensive experience working within the legal frameworks in which local government must operate and the statutory processes needed to be adhered to in relation to all valuation work.
* Demonstrated experience providing strategic valuation advice and collaborating across organisational boundaries.
* Commitment to high levels of customer service, a willingness to be an active and positive team member and always operate by the Banyule organisational values.
* Experience in the use of Victorian computer assisted valuation methodology
* Ability to plan, organise, set priorities and manage time so that organisational resources are optimised and objectives are achieved.

Pre-employment Requirements

* Driver's licence.
* Eligibility for membership of the Australian Institute of Valuers and Land Economists.

* Salary of $109, $122,671.33 per annum plus super
* A permanent full-time position with a monthly RDO.
