About The Role
Our long-standing relationships and deep knowledge of the insurance industry have recognized us as the premier Insurance Law & Litigation practice in Australia.
As a Senior Associate, reporting directly to the Partner, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of construction disputes.
Your clients will include leading domestic and international insurers handling claims in the construction space, large engineering consultants, and various architect firms.
Responsibilities
* Providing advice to insurers on cover, mainly professional indemnity insurance but also other construction policies
* Managing the day-to-day litigation including document management, correspondence, and court attendances
* Preparing briefs and attending hearings with Counsel
* Retaining expert witnesses, finalizing reports, interviewing lay witnesses, and drafting witness statements
* Corresponding with and taking instructions from clients, both insured and insurers
* Maintaining client portals
* Dealing with coverage Counsel
* Assisting in workshops on construction insurance for clients
* Collaborating with team members and senior practitioners
* Mentoring junior lawyers
* Supporting graduates and clerks during rotations
* Building and retaining business
About You
* Legal qualification with a current Practicing Certificate
* 5+ years of PAE in construction litigation; insurance experience is a plus
* Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
* Highly organized with effective file and time management
* Excellent client service ethic and relationship-building skills
* Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and develop new skills
* Focus on continuous improvement and solutions-oriented work approach
