**About the role**:
The apprentice Carpenter will work with the trade qualified carpenters to undertake carpentry related reactive maintenance and repairs on all buildings on the John Hunter campus and it' s associated sites, reporting directly to the trade qualified Carpenter as well as to the Engineering management. The John Hunter Engineering Department which comprises fifty-one staff undertaking all maintenance duties on the John Hunter campus in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The apprentice Carpenter will work and learn from the two trade qualified carpenters in the department and will also be supported by John Hunter Engineering management. There are also opportunities to undertake internal training through the My Health Learning system and there is a HNELHD orientation that new staff will undertake once they have commenced employment.
**Where you'll be working**:
The Engineering Department comprises of 51 staff; most staff with exception of the Engineering Control Room and Management are required to do day work starting at 7 am to 3:57 pm working 8.45 hrs per day, 9 days per fortnight with an unpaid rostered day off. The Apprentice Carpenter will be working with the Trade Qualified Carpenters and could work in any department of any building on the John Hunter campus or it's associated buildings.
**About you**:
Ideally, John Hunter Engineering is looking for an Apprentice Carpenter that has completed a minimum of Year 10 schooling, they will have a keen interest in the trade, a pre-apprenticeship course or school-based training and be willing to complete a four year apprenticeship in the Carpentry trade including the associated trade course.
You will be a team player with a positive outlook, good mechanical aptitude and have a keen interest in undertaking and completing a carpentry apprenticeship.
