About the Role
The Advanced Recovery Support Worker (ARSW) will form part of a team of support workers working across the LGA impacted by the January 2026 bushfires. The ARSW will facilitate and work on behalf of the individual/family to problem solve issues, advocate to obtain services where individuals/family find it difficult to act on their own behalf to access services to support their recovery.
A Recovery Support Worker appointed at the Advanced Level will have extensive knowledge and experience that allows them to operate at an advanced level, manage higher levels of case complexity and provide support and mentorship to other staff, including direct supervision of some team members.
They will provide an extra layer of support to management, will be recognised as a leader by peers and will undertake Higher Duties for the Team Leader when a supervisor is on leave.
Key responsibilities include:
* Actively provide practice support, mentoring and modelling to staff, including students (if required) and secondary consults with new staff.
* Actively provide support to management, undertaking leadership tasks, additional responsibilities and projects as required. Overseeing and supervising staff is part of this role.
* Pro-actively maintain own and contribute to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of other staff.
* Undertake higher duties for team leader if required.

Role Requirements
Essential
* Formal qualifications will include but not limited to Bachelor of Social Work, or Psychology or Diploma of Community Welfare Work and other health and community service qualifications relevant to providing a case management service.
Desirable
* Previous experience in Disaster Management.
* Previous experience in leadership.
Critical to your success in this role will also be:
* Demonstrated advanced practice skills, including application of Evidence Based Practice and higher order thinking skills.
* Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate and liaise with a range of professionals and community services.
* Demonstrated experience in providing practice support, mentoring and modelling to staff.
* Willingness to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencing employment with us. If you have spent over 12 months overseas in the last 10 years, you will also be required to undergo an International Police Check or present evidence of a satisfactory check
* Valid Victorian Driver Licence
