Operations Supervisor – Job Overview
Lead a dynamic team in a cross‑dock and transport‑focused environment, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our site. The role has evolved from a warehousing background to one centred on transport, compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and analyse performance, developing action plans to address any gaps.
- Implement strategies for efficient scheduling and resource management.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including process standardisation and problem‑solving.
- Supervise team performance, work allocation, and adherence to service metrics.
- Manage fleet and equipment availability, asset reconciliation, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Foster positive relationships with customers and resolve service queries promptly.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in transport or warehouse operations, ideally within FMCG or retail.
- Proven ability to supervise staff and manage infrastructure or equipment.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, finance systems, and relevant workplace legislation.
- Experience in customer service and managing subcontractor relationships.
- Knowledge of safety, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and coaching skills, with a focus on safety and compliance.
