Michael Vassili Barristers & Solicitors is an expanding litigation and transactional law practice based in Western and North Western Sydney. With over two decades of solid success in litigation in various jurisdictions throughout NSW and Australia two new positions are available in our expanding litigation teams.
The Firm conducts litigation in a wide variety of jurisdictions including:

We are seeking applications for a solicitor with 1+ years post admission experience (PAE) and up to 5 years PAE to join our team of enthusiastic and successful young lawyers. The role provides exposure to Family Law or Civil Litigation for a solicitor with a strong desire to progress a career in a practice under the guidance and mentorship of the Principal with 30 years experience in complex litigation as Trial Advocate. The position would ideally suit someone with a strong desire to work alongside Senior Lawyers to progress their foundation experience and knowledge of Family Law or other Civil Law area who value being mentored and expanding their existing base. It will be expected that the person has a sound working understanding and knowledge of the Rules of Evidence, Court Rules and Legal Research and a strong desire to be the very best lawyer they can.
You will be expected to provide peer review of matters and have conduct of your own matters to a very high standard expected by the Firm. Appearances in various courts including the Federal Circuit and Family Court, Local, District and Supreme Court will be required. It would be an advantage if you have run defended hearings in any one of these jurisdictions.
Qualifications & Experience
We are seeking a motivated, professional self-starter who can manage criminal law and civil law and general practice files from initial interview until completion.
* Working as a Solicitor within this diverse area of law your role will cover a range of matters from commercial and equity applications through to family provisions claims and litigation in all areas across Australia)
* Working knowledge of the Family Law Act/ UCPR / Criminal Procedure Act / Federal Court Rules and Court process (an expectation that you know how to converse with Rules and apply them)
* Strong analytical and research skills
* Advocacy skills with capacity to conduct appearances and hearings in all courts
* A career-focused individual who employs accuracy and commitment
* Outstanding client management and communication skills
* Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
* Strong negotiation experience and strategic skills
* Professional presentation, focus, and attitude
* The ability to work as an independent practitioner handling own files within a supportive team environment
You will have the support of the Principal of the practice in a friendly practice environment which cares about people.
The main litigation office of the Firm is based at Blacktown, however, the position will involve appearances in jurisdictions both throughout NSW and from time to time interstate.
