Abedian & Co is a medium sized residential property developer based on the Gold Coast. We currently have three active projects under development and are a leader in both design innovation and quality. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant to join our finance team.
The role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will play a key role in the in the finance team. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial accounting needs of the business, while also assisting to ensure the business adheres to its various corporate compliance requirements and safeguarding the accuracy of financial reporting.
Key responsibilities
· Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations
· Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
· Ensure compliance with AASB, IFRS, and other relevant regulations
· Support the month-end and year-end close processes
· Prepare BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and other statutory returns
· Assist with the processing of supplier payment runs
· Support external audit process and liaise with auditors when required
· Contribute to budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with various internal stakeholders.
· Support completion of external financial reporting requirements as needed.
· Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes
· Support management with variance analysis and commentary
· Contribute to implementation of new accounting software
· Support the Chief Financial Officer as required
Candidate requirements
To be successful in this role you will hold relevant CPA/CA and tertiary qualifications and have past experience working in medium to large organisations. You will encompass a hands-on approach and be comfortable handling the transactional processes.
Other skills and experience to aid with your success include:
· CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards the end of your studies
· Intermediate - Advanced Excel skills
· Commercial accounting background
· Excellent presentation of work and highly organised
· Understanding of Australian Company Taxation Laws, including but not limited to FBT, Payroll Tax, Company Tax
· Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal/external parties
