Overview
Darwalla is actively recruiting for candidates to work as part of a small, motivated team on our poultry rearing farm located at Killarney on the Southern Darling Downs. Our rearing farms rear day-old chicks to become our future fertile egg layers.
Responsibilities
* Carry out a wide range of physical tasks including placing day-old chicks, catching birds, vaccinating birds, grading birds, and cleaning out sheds.
Hours and Work Environment
Hours are seasonal to meet production requirements. Typical work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, 4–5 days per week across 7 days. Expect 25–37 hours per week when in season. Overtime is occasionally available. The farm is in a rural location and requires a driver's licence and reliable transport.
The poultry industry has strict bio-security and animal welfare standards. Employees are restricted from keeping pet birds, poultry, or pigs, and from residing with others who work at poultry or pig farming sites. If you keep poultry, birds, or pigs at home, you cannot work for Darwalla in this role. All farms provide shower-on and shower-off facilities.

* Above award pay rate: 24.88 AUD/hour with 26% casual loading

Darwalla has a diverse workforce and is a fourth-generation family business that started producing chickens almost 90 years ago at Mt Cotton.
