Petuna is seeking an Aquaculture Technical Officer to join our Fish Performance Team. This full-time role is primarily based at our Rowella or Cressy site and involves regular travel to our other marine sites.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Aquaculture Technical Officer to join our Fish Performance Team. This role will be primarily based at our Rowella or Cressy site but will also involve regular travel to our other marine sites. You will join a highly motivated and professional team dedicated to fish performance, health, and environmental management.

Duties

Reporting to the Fish Performance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

* Plan, coordinate, and execute fish weight, quality, and health sampling programs across sites.
* Maintain site databases and ensure accurate data entry.
* Carry out water quality sampling and testing across sites as directed.
* Participate in company research and development projects.
* Ensure all work is conducted safely and in accordance with Petuna's health and safety procedures.
* Coordinate and participate in fish health monitoring, including smolt checks, disease investigations, and sample collection.
* Conduct environmental monitoring, including collection, submission, and reporting of water samples.
* Maintain and calibrate scientific and environmental monitoring equipment.
* Assist with additional aquaculture farm activities as required, including feeding, shoreline work, and general farm operations.

Qualifications and Experience

* A relevant tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, or Marine Science).
* Hands-on experience in the husbandry, handling, and feeding of salmonids.
* Experience in technical fields of fish health, environmental sampling, and monitoring.
* Strong knowledge of water quality, scientific sampling equipment, and data analysis.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Excellent time management, planning, and report-writing skills.
* Understanding of regulatory requirements for environmental compliance.
* Forklift license and Coxswain's ticket (preferred but not essential).
* Small crane/Hiab ticket (preferred but not essential).
