1. Month Contract (with potential extension). Our client is a leading mid-tier international law firm with a strong reputation for handling complex commercial disputes. With offices in Sydney and Melbourne, their dispute resolution team advises top-tier clients across diverse industries on high-stakes litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
Position Description
As a Contract Lawyer in the Commercial Litigation team, you will work closely with a Chambers-ranked Partner and a collaborative team of 10 on significant and complex disputes. You will manage all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, drafting pleadings, advising clients, and supporting settlement negotiations.
This role offers exposure to high-profile matters within a dynamic and supportive setting, with flexible hybrid work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and reviewing court documents, pleadings, affidavits, and settlement agreements
- Advising clients on dispute strategy, litigation risks, and regulatory compliance issues
- Supporting complex, high-value commercial disputes across multiple jurisdictions
- Collaborating with clients, counsel, and internal teams to develop tailored legal strategies
- Conducting detailed legal research and managing precedent documentation
- Representing the firm in client meetings and with external stakeholders
Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years’ experience in commercial litigation or dispute resolution within a top-tier or international law firm
- Strong drafting, advocacy, and client-facing skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
