Hours per week: 38
Remuneration: Band 6 salary from $104,133.36 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality

About the role
Our School Readiness funded Kindergarten Social Worker position works within our Early Education and Care Services (EECS) team who directly deliver funded kindergarten program to strengthen the capacity of the EECS Team to engage with and respond to families who are experiencing adversity through the sharing of resources, provision of education and secondary consultation, aligned with the School Readiness Funding (SRF) menu item for Social Work.

Working collaboratively within the EECS Team you will provide short-term intensive social work support to families in need of additional support.

You will build on EECS Early Childhood Educators (Educators) existing skills and knowledge through the provision of trauma informed coaching, mentoring, group training and other discipline-specific services to enhance children's wellbeing or access and inclusion.

What your day will look like
No two days are the same in this dynamic, relationship-focused role. You will:
Partner with Early Childhood Educators to provide coaching, mentoring, and group training, strengthening trauma-informed practice and educator confidence.
Deliver short-term intensive social work support to families experiencing adversity, using strengths-based and family-centred approaches.
Conduct assessments, care planning, and reviews, ensuring supports promote independence, self-efficacy, and positive outcomes for children.
Provide information, advice, and referrals to connect families with appropriate services and community supports.
Support the enrolment and engagement of children experiencing vulnerability, including those eligible for Early Start Kindergarten.
Collaborate within an integrated, place-based service model, working closely with internal teams and external agencies.

What you will bring
Experience supporting children and families, ideally within early years, education, or community settings
Strong knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and family-centred practice
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and build capability in multidisciplinary teams
Confidence in assessment, case planning, and referral pathways
Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds
Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Current driver's licence and employee Working with Children Check
A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
