We are seeking a skilled and reliable Switchboard Fitters/ trade assistants and leading hands to join our Client at a locally owned and operated switchboard manufacturing company in Brisbane. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, wiring, and testing of custom-built switchboards and control panels in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and Australian Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble switchboards, control panels, and enclosures using hand and power tools.
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Install and wire components such as circuit breakers, contactors, meters, busbars, isolators, and control devices.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and cable terminations.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to high-quality standards.
- Conduct basic functional testing and quality checks on completed switchboards.
- Work collaboratively with other team members including electricians, fitters, and designers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment in the workshop.
- Assist with incoming materials handling, component preparation, and stock checks as required.
Skills and Qualifications: Essential:
- Previous experience in switchboard fitting/building or a similar electrical assembly role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- QLD Electrical License
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
Desirable:
- Electrical trade qualification or Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician).
- LV switchboard manufacturing experience in line with AS/NZS 61439.
- Forklift license or experience operating workshop machinery (desirable but not required).
