Bring your technical knowledge and experience to advise and support our operational and functional teams. This role is ideal for someone looking for exposure across multiple sites, direct influence on business performance, and a explicit pathway into senior HSSE leadership. You will work directly with the Australian HSSE Leader to develop and execute strategic vision, objectives and improvement plans for HSSE within the Australian business, aligned to local business objectives and global strategies. You'll coach our operations team, mentor frontline teams, and implement initiatives that reduce risk, protect people and assets, and build a culture where safety is at the heart of everything we do.
About this position:
· Provide skills, knowledge, advice and factual analysis to key stakeholders to assist them with implementing and complying with the HSSE management system.
· Provide skills, knowledge, leadership influence and process structure to the business units for investigating incidents, accidents, risk exposures and other non-conformances (including collating, analysing and reporting on actions/strategies for prevention, improvement and general risk management).
· Continually review the HSSE Management System and its application to identify improvement opportunities and to provide key stakeholders with advice regarding non-compliance and/or continuous improvement. Inspections, Audits & Observations.
· Assist with the development, coordination, collation, distribution and retention of internal and external HSSE reporting and record management requirements.
· Develop, implement, coordinate, facilitate and service key stakeholders with HSSE training programs and promotional activities which drive compliance, awareness and performance improvement.
· Promote, participate and facilitate HSSE consultation mechanisms and HSSE improvement opportunities/promotions. Provide positive HSSE leadership to all key stakeholders in alignment with the HSSE Strategy, which specifically includes reflecting the desired culture, being accessible, being visible (visiting sites), coaching and mentoring.
· Assist with the promotion and participation in Permit to Work processes as well as the use of the newly deployed HSSE Digital Reporting and Risk Management System.
Our ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills who is highly organised, self-motivated and driven to make improvements. They will have the ability to influence and coach others, manage complex situations calmly, be flexible and possess the following qualifications/skills/experience:
· A minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
· Undergraduate or post graduate qualification in health and safety, or a related field are preferred.
· A minimum 5 years' experience in in similar HSE role and within the industry (e.g., Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction, Manufacturing).
· Demonstrate experience in Risk Management processes.
· Experience in delivering training packages/inductions.
· Working experience with ISO 45001 and 14001 Systems and Assurance are preferred.
· Working Experience of AS1940 – Storage & Handling of flammable and combustible goods.
· Knowledge of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail(ADG) Code.
· Bulk Chemical/Dangerous Goods Storage & Handling experience.
· Possess a sound knowledge of HSSE Management Systems, legislation and codes of practice.
· Well-developed interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
As a preference, you will have:
· Experience in Laboratory Health & Safety Management Systems.
· Experience supporting workers' compensation claims management and return to work management.
· Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM).
