Community Engagement Worker

Location: Nambour, QLD

Classification: SCHADS Level 3

Status: Part Time – Tuesday to Thursday (22.8 hours per week)

About the Role

Step into a role where you can genuinely make a difference. As part of the Nambour Corps team, you'll help shape and deliver community programs that truly respond to local needs. This is a hands‐on, relationship‐driven position where you'll connect with people, spark engagement, and create opportunities that strengthen the community.

You'll offer person‐centred support that honours each individual's cultural and spiritual preferences, and when welcomed, you'll help connect people with pastoral care or ministry support. It's meaningful work with real impact — right at the heart of the community.

Key Responsibilities

* Build strong relationships with community members, local organisations, and service providers.
* Plan, deliver, and evaluate emergency relief and assessment activities.
* Work with the Corps Officer to explore new and innovative community engagement opportunities.
* Support people in crisis by encouraging and empowering them through community activities and warm referrals.
* Offer access to pastoral care or prayer when invited, and connect individuals with ministry personnel as appropriate.
* Coordinate food collection and distribution activities in partnership with OzHarvest.
* Organise and participate in community events such as the Red Shield Appeal, Christmas wrapping activities, and the Christmas event at Aussie World.
* Support donation initiatives, including collecting items from community groups and participating in events like the annual Bikies Christmas Run.
* Assist with volunteer recruitment, rostering, induction, and engagement.
* Facilitate internal and external referral pathways to ensure community members receive the right support.
* Share information about Corps activities and help connect interested individuals with the right programs or leaders.
* Act as a point of escalation for complex community engagement matters.
* Liaise with the Corps Officer regarding budgets for community engagement activities.

Qualifications & Experience

* Tertiary qualifications in Community Services or Social Work (minimum certificate preferred).
* Experience in community engagement within a not‐for‐profit or faith‐based organisation.
* Proven ability to develop and deliver community‐based programs.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work effectively with community partners and diverse community members.
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Working With Children Check.
