Reporting to the Supervisor Environment - Mine, you will be responsible for the safe completion of environmental field monitoring tasks including sampling groundwater bores, surface water locations, waste water treatment plants, weed monitoring, feral animal control and incident response.
This position will also support the daily operations associated with progressive rehabilitation, including rehabilitation monitoring, weed monitoring and management, topsoil and rock armour tracking and inspections, seed stock management, overseeing drone seeding activities and assisting with contractor site works and data management.
Duties - Environment Undertake field sampling in accordance with the compliance schedule and sampling WINs Accurate labelling, recording and data entry for all samples obtained Ensure samples are collected in a timely and correct manner Preparation and delivery of samples to an accredited laboratory Maintain stock of monitoring consumables Assist with maintenance and calibration of the monitoring equipment Assist with data management and interpretation of results Ensure vehicles are safe, clean and stocked on a regular basis or as requested.
Participate in team handovers and meetings Undertake all other duties / activities as required by the Environment Team or as instructed by the Superintendent Environment Duties - Rehabilitation Undertake rehabilitation photo monitoring at the Port/Rail/Mine as required.
Undertake weekly progressive rehabilitation inspections.
Undertake field surveys of landforms for the presence of weeds and complete minor maintenance works as required.
Assist with the preparation and input of data to the rehabilitation GIS database.
Conduct annual topsoil and rock armour inspections.
Conduct seed store inventory audits and weekly facility checks.
Assist with the preparation of seed batching and seeding rehabilitation landforms (including drone, mechanical and hand seeding).
Assist with the preparation of rehabilitation permits.
