3c Neurology RHH, Liverpool St. The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania Medical School. The hospital provides most specialist medical services for the state, and is conveniently located in the central city, with easy access to all services and Hobart's waterfront and inner suburbs.
The Department of Neurology at RHH is fully accredited for neurology training, and manages an average of 20 neurology and stroke inpatients, plus serves a wide range of subspecialty clinics and neurophysiology services. We provide a rewarding and supportive training environment, with regular protected teaching sessions and financially supported professional development.
This elective/fellowship year at RHH is in neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular/neurophysiology. It includes multiple outpatient clinics and NCS/EMG sessions per week, aiming to achieve subspecialisation in these fields and level‐2 NCS/EMG proficiency.

* Base salary – $134,930 to $189,005 per annum, depending on experience.
* Additional overtime, on‐call allowance, callbacks, and disturbance rates are paid.
* Continual professional development allowance of $3,183 per annum.
* STP rural support loading of $25,000 per year, which can be used for rental costs and professional development.

Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Fixed‐term full‐time; day work with on‐call 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro‐rata, from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028. Part‐time hours may be considered. The selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time and casual vacancies for a period of twelve months from the date of publication.
Department of Neurology, Royal Hobart Hospital. Outreach clinics are also performed at Department of Neurology, Launceston General Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Work under supervision in outpatient clinics in neuroimmunology, neuromuscular, and neurophysiology fields.
* Perform NCS/EMG studies for both inpatients and outpatients.
* Undertake on‐call duties after hours for inpatients and emergency patients.
Eligibility & Requirements
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
* Conviction checks in the following areas: crimes of violence, sex‐related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty.
* Identification check.
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
Highly Desirable Requirements
* Two years of relevant clinical experience (e.g., two years of neurology advanced training).
* High level English language oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multi‐disciplinary team.
* Eligibility and commitment to undertake training with RACP.
