Role Overview
The division provides a range of enabling services and operational support to the department and Australian businesses. We are seeking experienced User Researchers / Interaction Designers with a dual skillset, working across both disciplines to understand and translate complex business needs into intuitive user experiences. The successful candidates will contribute to multiple departmental digital initiatives and service improvements for both public-facing and internal services within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather evidence, design, iterate, and continually improve user experiences.
* Integrate business objectives with user needs to create deliverables such as user stories, personas, user journeys, wireframes, designs, and interactive prototypes.
* Develop user research plans, select appropriate research methods, and manage participant recruitment.
* Report research findings, assist in roadmap prioritization, and present insights and concepts to business stakeholders.
* Explore complex problems and communicate insights using various user research and co-design methods to evaluate digital products and services.
* Use a mix of methods to co-design solutions for complex problems and create intuitive prototypes and proof-of-concept digital products.
Required skills and experience:
* Experience in research, discovery, and alpha phases of the product lifecycle.
* Strong understanding of inclusive and accessible design, user behavior, heuristics, and website analytics.
* Ability to conduct usability testing and validate designs, prototypes, and ideas.
* Understanding of design principles and systems.
* Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and their implementation.
