Your Week
Teaching into the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, you'll support students to select, install, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises.
CQUniversity operates under a structured Vocational Education and Training (VET) workload model that recognises both teaching time and the work done outside the classroom environment.
* 36.25 hrs/week (full-time) including teaching, preparation, marking, student support and/or other required duties.
* Teaching time is typically 22 hrs/week, with up to 25 hrs/week by agreement (no more than 9 teaching hours in a day). Overtime may apply where you are formally required to teach above agreed hours*.
* Preparation and marking are included in your paid hours – not done in your own time.
* Flexible start and finish times, planned around teaching needs, with flexibility supported where possible to accommodate personal, family and carer responsibilities.
What you'll need
* A relevant electrical trade qualification, such as a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or similar.
* A Queensland Electrical Licence, or the ability to obtain.
* Current hands-on industry experience in areas such as electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing, commissioning or industrial environments.
* An interest in mentoring apprentices, sharing your knowledge, and guiding learners in both workshop and classroom settings.
* Previous teaching experience is not required, however you must be willing to work in a structured teaching environment that includes assessment, documentation and student support.
