About the Role
A well-established international engineering and manufacturing company is expanding its presence in Australia and is seeking a motivated Business Development Manager. This role is home-based, ideally suited to candidates in the Melbourne area, and involves managing and growing client relationships across the mining and heavy industry sectors in Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia.
This role is suited to a dynamic sales professional with strong technical capability and a passion for developing long-term client relationships. You will work autonomously, managing your own territory, identifying new opportunities, and providing technical support to customers across multiple industries.
Skills & Experience
* Trade qualification in mechanical or electrical disciplines (highly advantageous)
* At least 5 years' experience in pump sales or related heavy industrial equipment
* Strong understanding of the submersible pump market (preferred)
* Existing network within the pumping, mining, or industrial sectors
* Proven track record in new business development, client management and closing sales
* Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
* Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a wider national team
* Comfortable travelling across multiple states, including remote and regional areas
* CRM experience and good proficiency in Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and grow a multi-state territory with a focus on new business acquisition
* Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients
* Identify and pursue opportunities to increase market share across VIC, TAS and SA
* Provide high-level technical support, including assessing pump applications and system requirements
* Undertake pump selection, performance assessment, and troubleshooting as required
* Prepare proposals, quotes and pricing in line with company guidelines
* Meet set KPIs, sales targets and regional growth objectives
* Work closely with the broader sales team to execute strategic plans
